Students Attend Upstate Social Sessions

img_36312On October 15th, Arien Rozelle, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Media and Communication department, participated in the second Upstate Social Sessions conference, an event to inspire and educate the community about the value of social media in our personal and professional lives, held in Rochester.

The event featured speakers from The New York Times, Kickstarter, the Democrat & Chronicle, WXXI, Excellus BCBS, Dixon Schwabl and many more, covering topics from social video analytics to personal branding. The Media & Communication department was an academic sponsor of the conference.

As a moderator of the panel “Don’t Feed the Trolls: Advice from Community Managers,” Rozelle led a conversation about how to manage social media channels for a brand with community managers Brian Cason of Moment, Carol Benovic of Kickstarter and Rochelle Bilow, formerly of Bon Appetit.

“As social media evolves, it’s increasingly important to stay up to date on the latest trends and innovations,” said Rozelle. “Upstate Social Sessions gives professionals, students and members of the community an opportunity to learn and share information with some of the leaders in the field — without leaving Rochester.”
